April 1, 2024 Our favorite Coverage Corner of the year is finally here! The April Fools Edition! We are going to do it a little differently this year. Usually, we have you spot the fake claim. This year, we are going to have you spot the one that is true! Submit your answers by the end of the day on Monday, April 15th. All correct answers will go into a drawing for a gift card of the winner’s choice! Here we go – can you spot the true claim? 1. A condominium community provided free Wi-Fi in the clubhouse for members and visitors. The association was sued because a teenager doing his homework was unable to electronically turn in an assignment on time because the Wi-Fi went down for 4 hours. He ended up flunking the class and blamed the association for the failing grade. 2. A condo complex was located near a vacant lot where a circus set up their tents. An elephant decided to wander and ended up in the association’s kiddie pool for a dip. The water needed to be drained and the pool sanitized. 3. A pond in front of a condo complex had been mostly empty for years posing a safety issue. After repeated requests from the insurance carrier to either fill it with water or fill it in completely, the board decided to comply with the carrier’s request and fill the pond with water. Just weeks after the pond was filled, a water pipe beneath it exploded sending water shooting in the air and chunks of concrete floating (and then sinking again). 4. A board member for a community with live camera feeds near the pool area posted the link to the feed to a “for pay” website and periodically brought different women within camera range to make out, earning a large online following and some extra cash. Upon the advice of their attorney, the community stopped using live feed cameras, ending the board member’s side business, causing him to sue the association for his loss of income.
