April 1, 2020 I don’t know about you, but doesn’t the past month all seem like one big April Fool’s joke? It is just too stressful! Let’s have a little fun with our annual April Fools edition! Can you spot the claim that isn’t true? All those submitting correct answers will be entered into a raffle for a gift card. 1. A unit owner attacked the association’s landscaper with a garden hose. That same owner then filed suit against the HOA for the harassment. 2. A commercial condo contains a bar. During a birthday party for his wife at the bar, one of the directors drove a forklift (which he owns) in a celebratory parade around the block. An intoxicated party goer stepped in front of the moving forklift and suffered a crushed ankle. He sued for the injury. 3. A contractor was hired by a homeowner to do some roof repairs on the exterior patio cover of the home. He fell after cutting a beam that was supporting him. He sued for his injuries. 4. A senior community regularly has coffee available for owners attending board meetings. An elderly woman accidentally spilled her coffee on a neighbor, burning her. The neighbor sued the association because the coffee was “way too hot”. Can you spot the fake? Email your guess to terri@berginsurance.com by April 15th. All correct entries will be entered into a drawing for a gift card, and the winner will be announced in next month’s Coverage Corner!
