May 1, 2018 There are many different ways to approach the insurance portion of managing risk for a homeowners association. Whether you are getting a new insurance proposal for your community, or renewing your policies for another year, remember that your current insurance professional is your business partner. If you or your board members have questions about coverage, coverage limits, deductibles, or anything else that might enhance your insurance experience, you should feel comfortable asking them of your current advisor. It is understandable, and even expected, that communities look at competitive proposals every few years. When doing this, remember that your current agent should be provided the same information that the new bidders are. It is impossible for any advisor to know that you have questions or want changes unless you tell them. When renewing a policy, the current agent is generally focused on keeping cost changes to a minimum while providing the coverage necessary to protect the interests of the customer and the members of the community. We can provide options for changing the program or coverage, and we would appreciate the opportunity to address any other enhancements and/or changes you would like to investigate. Remember, your current provider is not just a vendor. They are a partner to help meet the needs of your communities.
