March 1, 2018 Some of you may have attended recent CAI educational sessions about how to best communicate and effectively use the attorney for your association. I thought it would be a great idea to do the same for your insurance agent! Ask Questions. Have you ever had a question or just wondered about something insurance-related? Have you received questions from a unit owner or board member and were not sure how to answer them? I receive great questions all the time, and often I’m not even the agent on the account. Some of those questions are so good, or so intriguing, that they end up as a subject of this newsletter. Don’t be afraid to ask – chances are if you have that question, at least 10 other people do as well. For those of you pursuing your PCAM this year, you may have insurance questions for your case study and we are ready to help! Have us review governing document updates. While most attorneys are terrific at creating and changing the documents, you will want to keep your agent in the loop when updating. We may have suggestions or recommendations that will make the insurance section more clear, or even save the association money on premium. Did I mention that we don’t charge for this service? Have us attend meetings. Most good agents are BIG on education for Boards of Directors, for homeowners, for management company employees… The best part is, we don’t charge you for it! Heck, we will probably even bring you food! Have something going on in your community? Have a bunch of new managers in your office? We get it – insurance isn’t really an exciting subject and there is a fine line between putting people to sleep and making people’s heads explode with information. We keep it short and sweet, easy to understand, and leave open time for questions – and dessert. Remember – we are here for you, ready to help and free of charge! Use us to your advantage!
