It’s that time again!  The April Fools edition of Coverage Corner!  Can you spot the claim that isn’t true?  All those submitting correct answers will be entered into a raffle for a gift card.

  1. While a couple was on vacation for a week, a burglar broke into their home and then tried to escape through the garage.  He ended up locking himself IN the garage because the opener wouldn’t work.  He was trapped for a week and forced to dine on dog food and soda (the only edible things in the garage).  He escaped when the couple returned – and then filed an insurance claim against the owners for mental anguish.
  2. An association has an online payment portal which was hacked.  $363,000 was taken out of the association’s operating account through a reverse engineering process.  The FBI was able to back trace the hacker and catch them, but the hacker had already transferred the money to an offshore account.  The association filed a claim on their Cyber Liability Policy and recovered their losses (minus the deductible).
  3. A man filed a “lost baggage” claim on his travel insurance policy over lost dentures.  Apparently, he got drunk on a cruise ship vacation and lost them while barfing over the side.
  4. A couple vacationing in southern France filed an insurance claim for the paint on their car after it got licked off by a heard of cows.
